Maniacism introduced the philosophy at the core of AAAFRESH123’s practice.

Despite their distinct individual approaches, Hans, Maikel and Roderik are driven by a shared ambition: to develop a body of work rooted in a visual language that is immediate, physical and unmistakably their own.

What began as three artists working on a single canvas evolved into a collaborative method that, over more than a decade, developed into a recognizable signature defined by intensity, colour and movement.

At the centre of this practice lies Maniacism. Derived from the word mani, a form of inner madness, it refers to drawing out the most instinctive, driven and uninhibited part of oneself. Not chaos without direction, but a heightened state of creation where intuition overtakes restraint.

For AAAFRESH123, this inner force translates into painting. Energy, urgency and colour absorbed into a collective visual language embodied in their shared signature: AAA.
